One step further towards a Energy Combine in Sveg. |
Gottfrid Jonsson, councillor in Härjedalen municipality, and Kai Johan Jiang, chairman of the board at Dragon Power Co. Ltd.
In the past, we talked about the bio-energy combine as though it were an idea, despite the amount of practical progress made in proving that idea to be realistic.
The technology had only been tested in a laboratory environment. At the Sveg pilot plant, the joint Swedish-Chinese-EU project has been scaled up to industrial size in order to optimise the process for maximum efficiency and profitability.
On 31 May 2011 the Land and Environment Court at Östersund District Court granted NBE Sweden AB a permit to construct and operate the planned bio-energy combine in Sveg, producing 80,000 tonnes of pure ethanol each year. NBE Sweden will now proceed with work to finance the plant, which is expected to take about one year. The total investment required to reach full production is estimated at 2011 prices to be around SEK 3 billion.
